What is SDPI?

The Steel Detailing Professionals Index (SDPI) is the UK and Ireland's dedicated professional index for steel detailing companies. We identify, verify, and promote businesses that demonstrate the capability, processes, and commitment required to deliver high quality detailing work.

We are not a generic directory. SDPI functions as a standard setting body, one that defines what professional steel detailing looks like and gives clients a trusted reference point for procurement decisions.

Why Was SDPI Created?

The steel detailing sector has long suffered from a lack of transparency. Clients and contractors have had no reliable way to assess the quality, capability or credibility of a detailing firm before appointing them.

SDPI was created to solve that problem by establishing a clear, publicly accessible index of verified professionals who meet recognised standards, and by publishing guidance on what good steel detailing practice looks like.
